Tip #4: GET REFERRALS!
So you signed up, you've picked the right categories, done some research and hopefully have seen a couple e-mails come in. But when you look at your balance, it reads "Current Balance: $0.04." That can be a little bit discouraging. How are you ever going to pay your monthly cell phone bill making 4 extra cents a day? The answer can be summed up in one word - REFERRALS!
The best way to explain how referrals work is to show you some hypothetical numbers, and then you can actually SEE the difference. Remember that you are paid $.02 for every e-mail you read, $.01 for every e-mail a referral reads, and $.01 for every e-mail a referral's referral reads.
Here's an example:
You have 0 referrals. You read 5 e-mails a day for 5 days.
5 (e-mails) x .02 = .10 ...x 5 (days) = .50
You will make $.50 that week.
You have 5 referrals. You read 5 e-mails, each referral reads 5 e-mails for 5 days.
5 (e-mails) x .02 = .10 ...x 5 (days) = .50
5 (referrals) x 5 (e-mails) x .01 = .25 ...x 5 (days) = 1.25
You will make $1.75 that week.
You have 5 referrals, who each have 5 referrals. You read 5 e-mails, all referrals read 5 for 5 days.
5 (e-mails) x .02 = .10 ...x 5 (days) = .50
5 (referrals) x 5 (e-mails) x .01 = .25 ...x 5 (days) = 1.25
5 (1 ref.) x 5 (2 ref.) = 25 (2 ref.) x 5 (e-mails) x .01 = 1.25 ...x 5 (days) = 6.25
You will make $8.00 that week. (Note that 1 ref. is your 1st level referrals and 2 ref. is your 2nd level referrals)
As you can see, the referrals really do add up. In this case, you are doing the same amount of work (reading 5 e-mails a day), but making 16 times more money! Now imagine if you had 10 referrals...20...100...1,000 referrals!
So how do you get those referrals? When I signed up for hits4pay, I thought to myself, "I only know maybe like 5-10 other people who would want to do this." Then, I realized I didn't have to know them personally, I just had to make contact with them on the internet! There are thousands and thousands of people out there who are looking for a legitimate way to earn some extra cash out there. There are lots of ways to reach them, including websites, blogging, e-mails, and classified ads. This is where your research will come in handy. Find out the best (and FREE) ways to start a website. Google Sites is a good one. There are plenty of free blog sites available, such as Google's Blogger.com. You can e-mail everyone you know, and also sign up for free sites that will send out e-mails to subscribers. Also, do a google search for "free classified ad posting" and you will find a plethora of sites to choose from. As a benefit of signing up, I always send my referrals a list of my favorite sites and examples of various promotional materials. This way, I can be sure that the people I refer are also on the right track to success with hits4pay.
There are a few things to keep in mind regarding referrals. Obviously, not everyone of your referrals will get a lot of referrals, or even read many e-mails. So the trick is to just keep building your referral list as large as you can. The more 1st level referrals you have, the better chance you have of getting 2 level referrals! Also, it's important to keep in touch with your referrals and encourage them. I like to send them a welcome letter with my favorite ways to reach potential referrals. I will also send out e-mails from encouragement every now and then, just to keep everybody motivated to go out and get those referrals!
